Joseph P. Kelly Sr.

Joseph P. Kelly Sr., 61, of Grand Coulee, Wash., died at his home on Tuesday, November 16, 2004. He was born in Tacoma, Wash. on November 29, 1942 to John W. and Nona M. (Roark) Kelly.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-68, serving in Vietnam from 1967-68. He was in the National Guard from 1976-1985.

On January 22, 1972, Joseph married Patsy Dodson in Coulee Dam, Wash.

Joe was an electrician for the Bureau of Reclamation on the Grand Coulee Dam project for 31 years, retiring in 1997. He went to work for the Colville Tribe as an electrician in 1999 and retired in October of 2004.

He enjoyed music, camping, fishing, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member and past post commander of VFW Post 3157 in Electric City.

Joe is survived by: his wife, Patsy of Grand Coulee; two sons, Joseph P. Kelly Jr. of Spokane and John Kelly of Moses Lake; three daughters, Michele Esser of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Josie Ritter and Jennifer Hill, both of Moses Lake; one brother, Gene Young of Grand Coulee; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Spring Canyon Cemetery.

Strate Funeral Home, Grand Coulee, is in charge of arrangements.
