Two juveniles arrested in attempted assault

EPHRATA — Two Grant County boys have been booked into the Grant County Youth Center on charges that they were planning to confront another boy with a gun.

According to Ephrata Police Department reports, the EPD was notified two boys, 15 and 17, in possession of a firearm who were en route to allegedly confront another male juvenile.

The arrest occurred at about 1 a.m. Saturday when EPD officers and a Grant County Sheriff's Office deputy located the boys in a 1983 Cadillac in the northwest part of Ephrata. Authorities found an unloaded Reuger .357 pistol and ammunition in the vehicle.

The juveniles were arrested without incident, according to the EPD.

The 15-year-old resides in Ephrata and the 17-year-old resides in Soap Lake. The two juveniles have both been charged with attempted assault in the first degree and minor in possession consumption of alcohol.

Two other male juveniles in the company of the two suspects were released to their parents pending any further investigation.
