Herbert H. Smith

Beloved father, grandfather and husband Herbert H. Smith took the hand of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ and went to his eternal rest on Tuesday, November 9, 2004. Herb was born on July 24, 1936 in Denver, Colo. to Harold and Jessie Smith. He was the second of three children.

In his early years, the family moved to Prosser, Wash. where he attended school and graduated in 1955 from Prosser High School. After high school, he attended California Technical Institute and was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration in 1960 as an electronic technician.

Herb met and married Gail Cox of Prosser on May 28, 1960. They were blessed with five children. They enjoyed a wonderful life together and shared their love of life with Jesus with all they came in contact with.

Herb was a member of Richland Alliance Church where he was involved with the men's fellowship. All he met were counted as friends.

Herb was active in the Masonic Association and was Grand Master of Blue Lodge of Washington.

In 1986 when his life was drastically changed in an auto accident.

Herb retired from the FAA in 1987 after 27 years of service in the electronics division.

He is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Gail of West Richland; his sons, Jay (Debbie), Paul (Diane) and Jeff (Dawna) Smith, all of Moses Lake; his daughters, Carol Rabourn of Kennewick and Angela (Dave) Martin of Pasco; his sister, Ann (Dick) Mergens of Raymond, Wash.; his brother, David (Tillie) Smith of Prosser, Wash.; and 11 wonderful and loving grandchildren and two special foster grandchildren.

Herb is no longer bound to his wheelchair and now is walking and rejoicing with his Savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial service celebrating Herb's life will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Richland Alliance Church, located at 1400 Sanford, Richland, Wash. 99352.
