Daniel R. Preston

Memorial services for Daniel R. Preston, 63, longtime Moses Lake, Wash. resident and journeyman lineman for Grant County PUD, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Presbyterian Church in Moses Lake with Pastor Mark Bassett officiating.

Dan was born January 24, 1941 in South Beach, Ore. to Bessie and Lyman Preston. His early days were spent on the Oregon Coast. Dan joined the U.S. Army and served in France.

Dan was a longtime member of the IBEW, working line construction until he went to work for Grant County PUD in November of 1980. His blue hat was his trademark and linework was his life.

Survivors include: his wife, Maryann; two sons, Jason (Melanie) of Virginia Beach, Va. and Tony of Moses Lake; two granddaughters, Oneda Ann and newborn, Alayna Grace; two brothers, David of Lewis, Kan. and Hugh (Shirley) of Touchet, Wash.; two aunts, Edna Samuels of Renton, Wash. and Amy Madison of Molalla, Ore.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jenny and Ransom Queen of Sedro-Woolley, Wash. and Jean and Chuck Klingel of Winthrop, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dan fought a lengthy battle with cancer. His courage and strength were an inspiration to all who knew him. His final weeks at home with family and friends were very special.
