Ephrata unable to persevere

| November 1, 2004 8:00 PM

Ephrata faced a challenging Cascade team on Saturday losing in five, 16-25, 27-25, 25-16, 22-25, 13-15.

The match went back and forth and came down to the wire several times but when it counted the Tigers weren't able to pull it together. Ephrata's ability offensively was almost nonexistent in the first game, only capable of scoring 16. As the game continued, Ephrata found themselves against a wall in the fifth game and eventually fell by two and was sent home empty-handed. The Tigers' Kelly Neal finished with 15 blocks, six kills, and went 19-for-20 serving; Emily Lewellin had four blocks, 10 kills, 15-16 serving, and two digs; Chelsea Conklin had nine kills, 13-for-15, and 13 digs.

Quincy finishes season with a loss

Quincy played Omak and lost in four games going 25-13, 25-23, 9-25, 25-13.

The Jacks stood tall in the second game and were able to put off a more dominant Omak edging them by two. The Jacks fell apart immediately after that and failed to take a double-digit game in the third.

"We would like to have done better, but we have learned a lot and we hope to do better next year," said coach Jeannie Brindle.

Quincy's Leigh-Ann Huxtable had four kills and four blocks; and Amy Faw had five kills and went 13-for-13 serving with two aces.
