| May 6, 2004 9:00 PM

Merritt Ashley, 31, of Provo, Utah, had his life cut short unexpectedly on April 24, 2004. Funeral services were held under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home, Boise, Idaho.

Fred Merritt Charles Ashley was born September 7, 1972 in Spokane, Wash. Merritt was raised in Moses Lake, Wash. and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1991. He obtained his degree from ITT Technical Institute in Spokane in 1994, where he was recruited by Micron Tech in Boise, Idaho.

Merritt lived in Boise for six years, where he made many good friends and met his wife, Mauri Shayegi. They married February 21, 1998 and had two amazing boys, Cody and Brock. They transferred with Micron to Utah in 2000, and have resided there since.

Merritt's greatest joy was time spent with his wife and boys. Merritt was a devoted, loving, fun and dedicated husband and father. He was a lifelong sports fanatic. There was not a game he could not master and a challenge he wouldn't take on. He will be terribly missed.

Merritt is survived by: his loving wife, Mauri; two sons, Cody and Brock; his parents, Pete Ashley of Spokane and Marian and Hugh Spencer of Moses Lake; sisters, Tara Ashley of Spokane and Gemille (Jon) Wise of Shoreline, Wash.; stepsister, Shelley Spencer of Ellensburg, Wash.; maternal grandmother, Veta (Bob) Halfhide of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; as well as numerous extended family members.
