Food Pavilion moving entrance to parking lot
Remodel made to increase consumer safety
There's been a slight change to the make-up of Stratford Road.
The Food Pavilion is altering its parking lot a tad.
Food Pavilion assistant manager Ernie Lang said that after the entrance of the Food Pavilion Commercial Center, the city of Moses Lake asked that the entrance to the parking lot be moved, so that it was straight across from the entrance of the Golden Corral parking lot.
"Our customers were kind of a little scared to walk out here," Lang said, indicating the part of the parking lot right outside to the entrance of the store. "It was a straight shot through to Wal-Mart. It was pretty dangerous, so what we did is, when they told us to put it over there, we curved (the parking lot) around."
Lang said that the part of the lot up close to the entrance will be van-accessible, handicapped parking.
"This should slow, hopefully, the flow through so that it's not just a straight shot right through to Wal-Mart," he said. "It was just basically endangerment towards the customers that we were worried about more than anything else. This we feel will help."
Sue Cole, public affairs director for Brown & Cole Stores, which owns Food Pavilion, called the move a finishing touch.
"It's kind of perfunctory finishing up of things," she said.
Lang said that there are also plans in the works for other things in the parking lot, but he was unsure of what they were.
The Food Pavilion is also going through the evaluation process of hiring a new manager, Lang said.
"It'll be a while; there's applications out there and they'll all be interviewed and all," he said, estimating that it will take about 30 to 45 days to find a manager.
