Kathryn M. Ray, of Moses Lake, Wash., died Sunday, June 6, 2004. She was born in San Francisco, Calif. on August 6, 1910.

Kathryn was a loving mother and grandmother to her son and four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the American Legion and served in the armed forces with the United States Navy during World War II. She was very proud of being a veteran and serving her country.

In her younger years, she worked in the movie industry in Los Angeles, Calif. and knew and grew up with many big-screen movie stars.

Kathryn, or "Kitty" as she was known, lived in Moses Lake for 40 years and loved the area with all her being. She and her husband, Ray, owned Ray's Barber Shop on Broadway for many years, where they met and loved so many friends.

They loved to hunt, fish and especially camp in the "Icicle Creek" area of Washington state. Kitty was an avid homemaker who, throughout her life, loved to cook and sew. She was a person who was always kind and had a smile on her face for everyone.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Preston Ray.

She is survived by: son, James Ray and wife, Cindy of Benton City, Wash.; brother Gene Mix and wife, Petie of Sangor, Calif.; granddaughters, Laure Nelson and husband, Craig of Richland, Wash., Tawnya Canogullari and husband, Seder of Baku, Azerbaijan C.I.S., Jamie Ray of Benton City and Julie Wagner and husband, Kevin of Pasco, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Mason Nelson, Lindsey Nelson and Devon Ray.
