Marion W. Howard

Marion W. Howard went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2004 at the age of 96. She was born August 9, 1907 in Hamilton, Mont. to William Sherman Wagy and Margaret Ann Whitesitt Wagy.

She grew up in Hamilton. She graduated from the State Normal College in Dillon, Mont with a two-year teaching certificate. She taught second grade in Hamilton until her marriage to Seward Leslie Howard September 9, 1939 in Tacoma, Wash. They lived in the Seattle area for many years.

In 1955, Seward died as the result of a car accident. Marion and her daughter, Charlotte moved to Plains, Mont. where Marion's sister, Mildred lived.

Marion completed her college education in 1962 by earning her four-year degree from Western Montana College of Education in Dillon, Mont. Marion taught fifth grade in Plains until her retirement in 1972 after teaching for 26 years.

She was a member of the Plains United Methodist Church and played the piano there for many years. She moved to Othello in September 1985. She became very active in the United Methodist Church and played the piano there for a number of years. She volunteered at the Othello Public Library, Lutacaga Elementary School and at the Old Hotel for a number of years. She also quilted with the ladies group of the Lutheran Church.

Due to failing health, Marion became a resident at Sunbridge Care and Rehab in Moses Lake, Wash. in February 2000. She lived there until her death. As her health would permit, she participated in many activities while at Sunbridge. She won blue ribbons several years at the Grant County Fair for craft items she made.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister.

Marion is survived by: her daughter, Charlotte Cramer and son-in-law Joel of Othello; grandsons, Douglas of Moses Lake and Russell of Othello; and three nephews, two nieces and their families.

We remember her words: love the Lord, live each day to the fullest, be kind, generous and respectful to others.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to your favorite charity. A celebration of Marion's life will be held Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Othello United Methodist Church, 1335 E. Ash St., Othello. Burial will be in Hamilton, Mont.

The Neptune Society has been entrusted with the cremation.
