Delos (Dee) E. Russell

Delos (Dee) E. Russell, 71, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2004 surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2004 at the Moses Lake Alliance Church, 1100 N. Grape Dr., Moses Lake, Wash.

Dee was born in Oak, Ind. on November 7, 1932, the son of Elihu and Florence (Vangndy) Russell. Dee graduated from high school in Star City, Ind. in 1950. He was employed at Logan Machine in Logansport, Ind., when he enlisted in the United States Army.

He served our country during the Korean War, from June 1953 until July 1954, where he made Sergeant and was awarded the Commendation Ribbon for Meritorious Service. When he returned state-side at Fort Lewis, Wash., he met and married Wanda Workman from Mossyrock, Wash. on August 6, 1955. They moved to Star City, Ind. until November of 1959 when they moved back to Mossyrock.

Dee then went to work for Rea Hereford Ranch, until they relocated in Othello in 1967. He moved to Moses Lake in 1969 and went to work for the Washington Dept. of Agriculture as a horticulture inspector until he retired in 1994 as an area supervisor. He was well liked and respected by all.

He later went to work every spring for C & W Seed for nine years, and three years for Helig Farm, which he enjoyed greatly.

Dee was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him. Dee was an avid Mariners fan and enjoyed watching them through the good and bad times.

Dee is survived by: his beloved wife, Wanda of 49 years; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Marilyn and Duane, all of Moses Lake; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet of Pittsburg, Pa. and Lori and Wayne of Olympia; six granddaughters, Bonnie and Sara of Moses Lake, Stephanie and Brianne of Pittsburg, Pa., and Ashley and Amanda of Olympia; a sister, Julia Baker of Logansport, Ind.; two brothers, Max Russell of Royal Center, Ind. and Dale Russell of Frankfort, Ind.; a nephew, Bill Baker and his wife Janet of Moses Lake; and numerous other nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved so very much.

He was so very much loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Dee was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alice Smith and Lois Davis, and a brother, Galen Russell.
