Search continues for shooting suspect

A statewide search continues for homicide suspect James Moran, said a spokesperson for the Moses Lake Police Department.

Capt. David Ruffin said Moran, 32, is wanted in connection with the July 9 shooting deaths of his in-laws, Glenn and Debra Jolene Carr. Although he is still on the run, people need to notify the department or dial 911 immediately if Moran is spotted in the city.

Moran's children, sought through an Amber Alert after the shootings, were found in Moses Lake this weekend at the home of Moran's parents. James Moran's mother called the authorities after seeing the Amber Alert on television, Sgt. Scott Child from the Kennewick Police Department said.

The children's mother and Moran's wife Mandy was out of state at the time of the shootings, and was said to be traveling to the Northwest.

A tip to the Kennewick Police Department resulted in a raid of Moran's Kennewick home Sunday morning. No sign of the suspect was found, though Child told the Tri-City Herald that the search for Moran "is still going strong."

According to the Amber Alert update, Moran was seen leaving the scene of the crime at the time of the shooting with a child identified as his 7-year-old daughter Jaime.

Moran is a 5 feet 8 inches tall white male, weighting approximately 240 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a scar on his abdomen, his right hand and a tattoo with the letters "MJM" on his left wrist.

The children, ranging from five to 10 years old, are in protective custody, Ruffin said.

Although neighbors of the Moran residence in the Kennewick area told the Tri-City Herald they did not have major suspicions of marriage trouble between Moran and his wife, Mandy's aunt said the Carrs "were scared of him."
