Moses Lake won both matches at the Best of the West tournament in Pasco Tuesday, beating Hanford 57-11 and Kamiaken 45-25.

A.J. Hara, out since the first dual of the year with a knee injury, had a fall in his first match back.

"It helped our team quite a bit to get him back in the lineup," said Moses Lake head coach Nathan Stanley.

John Fackrell, Ty Payne and Joe Vela all went 2-0.

Moses Lake JV beat Stephenson in a dual meet.

"The kids wrestled well," Stanley said. "We need keep building on our successes and be much more aggressive tomorrow to win."

The Chiefs face Newberg in their first match today. Newberg is ranked second in Oregon at the 4A level.

"They're very tough," Stanley said. "We're going to have to be firing on all cylinders and have some things going our way to pull it off."

Chiefs' 119-pounder Anthony Bayless is still out with an injury.

Ephrata fell to a strong Medical Lake team 50-18 at Medical Lake Tuesday. The Tigers got 5-0 wins from Dallas Hintz at 130 pounds and Jake Horn at 103 pounds.

James Bush won by fall for Ephrata in the 215-pound division.

"They were tough," said Ephrata head coach Dave Laird. "We actually wrested pretty well. I thought Hintz really stood out."

Laird said he was also impressed by Mark Ouradnik who, despite losing, wrested a good match.

Warden wresters made a good show at the Warden tournament Tuesday, taking first in five different weight classes.

Alan Martinez (125), Guillermo Medoza (135), Anthony Martinez (152), Joel Martinez (160) and Kevin Bowers (171) all went undefeated for the Cougars.

Warden took the top two spots in the 171-class with Trevor Rollins following Bowers. The Cougars also had three other second-place finishers.
