Elaine Blauer Guckenburg

Elaine Blauer Guckenburg, 66, of Othello, died at the Othello Community Hospital on Monday, August 9, 2004.

Elaine was born on March 8, 1938, in Burley, Idaho to Arnold and Alma Parker Blauer. She was raised and educated in Burley. Elaine married Carl Guckenburg on August 17, 1957 in Rupert, Idaho.

After they were married, Carl's work took them to Prineville, Ore., where they began their family. In 1962 they moved to Mesa, then in 1967, Carl and Elaine settled in Othello. Elaine went to work for Chef Ready, now McCains, in 1968 and worked there until 2003 when she retired as a warehouse manifester.

Elaine loved to read and enjoyed all kinds of authors, but her favorites were romance novels. She was an avid traveler, especially when it was to go see her granddaughter in Texas. She was a member of the Paradise Lutheran Church of Othello.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl.

She is survived by: her four sons, William and wife, Renee Guckenburg of Houston, Texas, Alfred and Kenny Guckenburg, both of Othello, and Brian Guckenburg of Bremerton, Wash.; three sisters, Verna Price and Elona Barkley of Panaca, Nev., and Sharon Rodriguez of Burley; and one granddaughter, Sarah Guckenburg of Houston.

A time for final visitation has been set aside at Stevens Funeral Chapel on Sunday August 15, 2004 beginning at 1 p.m. and concluding at 5 p.m. A celebration of Elaine's life will be held at the Paradise Lutheran Church located at 1212 Pine St. in Othello at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2004. Burial will follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.

Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello.
