Carlos Roy Ridgeway

Carlos Roy Ridgeway, a longtime resident of Moses Lake and the Royal City area, passed away August 1, 2004 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Carlos was born November 29, 1937 in Prairie City, Ore. to Roy D. Ridgeway and Nettie (Yarber) Ridgeway. He attended school in John Day, Ore. until he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955.

He worked in construction, driving trucks for various companies in various states. He married the love of his life, Maybelle Sampley in Winnamucca, Nev. on December 5, 1964.

Carlos was an avid hunter and fisherman and he especially enjoyed the times he got to take his grandchildren on his trips.

He is survived by: his wife, Maybelle Ridgeway of Moses Lake, Wash.; four daughters, Debbie and Don Stevens of Wynona, Texas, Patty and Mark McDowell of Royal City, Wash., Chris and Ernie Pack, also of Royal City, and Mindy and Blair Evens of Hurlburt Field, Fla.; his mother, Nettie Downs of Moses Lake; sister, Kathy Wood of Moses Lake; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Cordie Sampley of Moses Lake; and his sister-in-law, Imogene Sampley, who has lived with Carlos and Maybelle for nine years.

Carlos was preceded in death by all his grandparents and his father, Roy Ridgeway of Ontario, Ore.

There will be a memorial service in celebration of his life at the family home, located at 8616 Vince Rd. NE, Moses Lake, WA 98837 at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2004.
