Rachel Jorgensen is a wall.

When the Moses Lake girls tennis team meets its opponent, everyone expects Jorgensen to outlast every match on the court with her long rallies and three-set matches. Last night, she only went two sets for the win, but had 13 deuce point opportunities in the 6-2, 6-1 win.

The girls tennis team fell 4-3 to Kamiakin in the process.

"She, besides Gabe, has won more matches than anyone out there," Moses Lake girls head coach Sarah Sawyer said. "She hits it back every time and plays against these girls who hit the ball hard and they get frustrated because she hits them back."

Facing Kamiakin's Jennifer Sargeant, Jorgensen was in for a battle from the beginning. The two tennis players began to exchange winning shot after winning shot in the first game before Jorgensen gave two, unforced errors to give Sargeant the first game of the match.

From there, the wall came out and Jorgensen won the next five games. Game two went into a deuce, but Jorgensen was able to get Sargeant to hit into two unforced errors for the point, the next game went into two deuce situations, all favoring Jorgensen.

"That is usually how it goes for me, I have a lot of deuces," Jorgensen said.

Jorgensen gave up the seventh game of the first set, leading 5-2 with the opportunity to serve for the set. Sargeant built a 40-15, before giving up two straight points to send the match into another deuce situation. After five deuce points, Jorgensen was able to put the match away.

The start of the second set didn't get easier for the two players who battled through another four-deuce game, resulting in Sargeant hitting two straight shots into the net for the loss.

Jorgensen began to take control of the game, winning four more games to take a 5-0 lead on her opponent. Sargeant built a 40-15 lead in the sixth game of the second set, gave up an unforced error, but closed out the game with a power forehand cross-court for the game.

Jorgensen cruised through the last game for the set and the match, defeating Sargeant 6-2, 6-1. Moses Lake's No. 1 singles player, Gabe Madson, pulled off the only other victory at the time with a win over Amanda Kramer 6-1, 6-1. No. 4 singles player Stacy McConkie went three sets with Christine Hendricks, before capturing the win 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.

Anne Baker was the only singles player to lose, with Kamiakin's Shanna Montgomery picking up the 6-1, 6-0 win.
