Sarah "Kay" Katheryn Nelms

Sarah "Kay" Katheryn Nelms, 84, resident of the Monroe, Wash. area and former longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Regency Care Facility in Monroe.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 516 E. Nelson with Pastor Gene White officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday until 7 p.m.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Kay was born January 9, 1920 in Dublin, Texas, daughter of the late Raymond R. and Alline (Renner) Camp, Sr. She graduated from Poly High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 1936. She was married to D. K. Gorman, Jr. of Fort Worth in 1940.

In 1961, Kay moved to Moses Lake, Wash. She married Charles Nelms of Denton, Texas in 1962 and they made Moses Lake their home. Kay was a waitress for many years and also worked for the Retail Clerks Union.

In recent years, she enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, being a homemaker and being involved in the Baptist mission work in the Columbia Basin area. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Moses Lake until 2002, when she moved to the Monroe area.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, D. K. Gorman, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas and Charles Nelms of Moses Lake, and two brothers, Raymond Camp, Jr. and William Renner.

Kay is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerrell D. and Nelda Gorman of Snohomish, Wash. and Reverend Stanley P. and Tracy Gorman of Woodbridge, Va.; one sisters, Jo Anne Bush of Turnersville, NJ; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family requests contributions be made in her name to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Bible Fund in lieu of flowers.
