Master Gardeners sow seed of success in demo gardens
WSU Master Gardeners provide a variety of community outreach activities to the people of Grant and Adams Counties. All of our certified gardeners serve as informal educators who provide resources on horticulture and gardening to rural and urban gardeners of every skill level and age. Our group holds plant clinics at farmers markets and county fairs, presents workshops to the public, civic organizations and schools, organizes an annual gardening symposium, and sets up and manages demonstration gardens. Some MGs write articles for a quarterly newsletter, newspapers or other news media.
Air shows provide great entertainment
Two air shows in two weeks within 100 miles of each other. Wow, what great entertainment. Both special, unique and remarkable.

Wahluke School District serves summer meals to children
MATTAWA — The Wahluke School District will be providing children ages 18 and younger with free breakfasts and lunches throughout the summer. The meals are made possible through the Summer Food Service Program, a USDA program that “provides kids and teens in low-income areas free meals when school is out,” according to their website. Children do not have to participate in summer school to receive meals.
GTA finances appear to be stabilizing
MOSES LAKE — The finances at Grant Transit Authority (GTA) appear to be stable, according to a report from interim GTA General Manager Terry Weed during a regular board of directors meeting on Thursday, June 20.
Royal City to have two site visits in near future
ROYAL CITY — The Royal City Council was informed by Royal City Public Works director John Lasen that the city is receiving two site visits. The Department of Ecology will be collecting data to renew the city’s sewer permit, while the other site visit will make sure the city is not using underground fuel storage tanks.

ML man arrested for third time while awaiting trial for overdose homicide

MOSES LAKE — A fire that ignited in a camper at the Cougar Campers RV Park near Moses Lake also destroyed at least two other campers Tuesday afternoon, according to fire officials. Medical transportation service American Medical Response declined to comment on whether any injuries occurred.

Eight-year-old injured in car wreck near Quincy
QUINCY — An eight-year-old boy was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in a car accident near Quincy early Sunday morning. Charges for DUI are pending against the driver, according to a press release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
