Basin roundup: Moses Lake unable to hold lead against L&C

SPOKANE — A flurry of goals prevented Moses Lake from winning its season opener.

Lewis and Clark scored three goals in four minutes to win 4-3.

The Chiefs led 1-0 for most of the first half after Emily Mendoza scored in the third minute. Natalie Bunch and Risa Nishida scored a goal apiece in the second half.

Ella Magnuson scored twice for the Tigers, including the game-winner in stoppage time.

COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO — Big Bend was swept in its opening match of region play by North Idaho 25-13, 25-21, 25-21.

Sadie Nielsen and Brynn McKnight led the Vikings’ attack with 7 and 6 kills, respectively.
