CALGARY, Alberta — Columbia Basin improved to 2-0 at the Babe Ruth Regional Tournament with a 13-1 victory over Rural Baseball Incorporated Dirtbags.
The Riverdogs led 4-0 after two innings and put the game out of reach with eight unanswered runs from the fourth inning on. Hunter Gibson got the scoring started in the second inning with a 2-run double that plated Gabe Passey and Dalton Kentner. Josh Williams was thrown out at home, however, that only delayed the offensive eruption. Dax Lindgren tripled home Gibson and Tre Ramirez to open up a 4-0 lead.
Columbia Basin tacked on four more runs between the third and fifth inning before another 4-run outburst in the sixth.
After loading the bases, Joe Taylor drew a walk, Lindgren was hit by a pitch and Dominic Signorelli hit a 2-run single. Lindgren ended the game with three of his team’s eight total RBIs.
Gibson allowed one run on six hits over 5 1/3 innings.
The Riverdogs continue pool play today at 3:30 p.m. against Lakeside Recovery, a rematch of the North Washington state championship.
