MOSES LAKE — The Central Washington Spuds closed out their two-day series against the Yakima Beatles on Wednesday at Larson Field. The Spuds finished up their doubleheader in Yakima on Tuesday after going late into the evening, having played extra innings in the first matchup.
Yakima took Game 2 on Tuesday 10-9. The Spuds were able to keep their bats going well after fighting back from a big deficit to force extra innings in the first game of the evening, but were unable again to seal the victory. Playing in Moses Lake on Wednesday, the Spuds remained within fighting distance of the visitors before the Beatles were able to pour in eight runs in the top of the seventh to seal an 11-0 victory in the game. Central Washington was held scoreless, with two hits and three errors in the first game of the day, and third of the series.
After an early lead in the final game on Wednesday night, the Spuds were unable to match the hitting of the Beatles. 13 hits knocked in nine runs over the final five innings for Yakima to seal a 9-2 win and the sweep in the two-day series.
