Red Raiders start summer season 2-2

Summer baseball in Othello got off to an up and down start.

The Red Raiders were able to sweep Prosser 7-6 and 17-2 to start their summer season 2-0. However, 2-1 and 15-2 losses to Richland moved Othello’s record back down to 2-2.

In the season opener, Othello broke a 5-5 tie with Prosser after scoring twice in the sixth inning.

Nate Garza Jr. hit a go-ahead RBI triple and Josh Garza followed with an RBI single. Nate Garza doubled and tripled in the game.

Othello completed the sweep of Prosser with an offensive eruption in Game 2 that included an 11-run fourth inning.

Jaxon Rocha was 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Richland won a pitching duel in the first of two games.

Tied 1-1 entering the seventh inning, Richland scored the game-winning run on a fielder’s choice.

Richland made sure the second game was not as dramatic, scoring in every inning to pull away.

Josh Garza was 1-for-2 with an RBI in the nightcap.
