The Roman Catholic Church’s Yakima Diocese which oversees operations of the Catholic Church for a large portion of the Columbia Basin. The Washington State Senate last week passed a bill that would add clergy to the list of mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect. Currently, Washington is only one of seven states where clergy members are not required to report abuse. The measure now goes on to the state House of Representatives for consideration.
