Richard Byrd/Columbia Basin Herald A young boy puts out a simulated fire with the help of a Grant County Fire District No. 5 firefighter at Big Bend Community College on Saturday during Agriculture Safety Day. The event was organized by Tom and Stacey Cobb, of the Tom Cobb Agency, and BBCC. The program was provided by the Progressive Agriculture Foundation, which puts on 400 events in the US and Canada. Saturday’s event taught children fire, water, chemical, electrical and farm equipment safety. Children also got the chance to learn about CPR and made their own first aid kits.
