Daedra Bethann Kostenko died peacefully in her home on March 4, 2019 in Moses Lake, Washington at the age of 44. She is finally at peace after a short struggle with cancer.

Daedra was born on Aug. 16, 1974 in Wenatchee, Washington to Perry Smith and Sandy Haynes at Rosewood Hospital which was later renamed Central Washington Hospital. Daedra grew up in Moses Lake, Washington where she attended Garden Heights Elementary and Frontier Middle School. Daedra worked hard in everything she did, especially during the summer months where she worked for her dad for VanWells Nursery, a family-owned fruit tree nursery. She graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1992, then went to Eastern University and graduated with a degree in Health and Science in 1996.

After graduation Daedra ventured off to San Diego and lived there for some time where she worked as a staffing agent for Robert Half International. On her days off she loved spending time on the beach sunbathing or surfing. Later she ventured off to Las Vegas where she worked for eight years at Mandalay Bay and then MGM Grand. Eventually Daedra returned to Washington and settled in Wenatchee where she met her husband Paul Kostenko. Over time they welcomed their son Kaiser Kostenko. Paul and Daedra got married in 2012 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Daedra was a devoted wife who loved her husband and son with all her heart. Nothing gave her more joy then to spend time with her family and to watch her son grow. Every minute with Daedra was priceless. We will miss Daedra’s warm smile, her sense of humor and her enthusiasm for life. Daedra was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter and sister. We will miss her dearly.

Daedra is survived by her husband Paul Kostenko; son Kaiser Kostenko; father Perry Smith and Sandy Haynes; sister Kerrie Smith Petersen, brother PJ Smith and sister Ashlie Longoria; grandma Jimmy Haynes and grandpa Eldon Haynes; stepmother Debbie Smith and stepsister Katina Swartz; aunts Ruby, Leatha and Donna Haynes and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony is scheduled at her residence for family and close friends. Daedra’s memories will be treasured for many many years to come. For those who knew her Daedra was a free-spirited girl who loved and lived life every day to the fullest. She always lit up the room with her smile.

We would like to thank the Cancer Wellness Center and Reno Integrative Medical Center in Reno, Nevada and Wilkinson Wellness Center in Yakima, Washington for all their efforts and loving care in the treatment of Daedra.
