Vera Jean Powell, age 77, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at her home in Spokane, surrounded by her three children.

Vera was born July 15, 1941, in Missoula, Montana. She attended Sentinel High School in Missoula, Montana, graduating in 1959, then married Rod Powell in 1960. They moved to Royal City in 1973 where they raised a family and were very involved in the community. Vera enjoyed a long career with the Royal School District in various office manager roles.

Vera and Rod moved to Spokane, Washington in 1992 where she again worked as an office manager for Arcadia Elementary in Deer Park, Washington. They enjoyed traveling, attending live theater and spending time with family.

Vera is survived by her three children Jeff, Todd and Kristi; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Gardens, 5200 W. Wellesley in Spokane. The service will be a combined memorial for Vera and her late husband, Charles (‘Rod’) Powell, who passed away Nov. 24, 2016.
