Othello man dies in Winchester accident

WINCHESTER — An Othello man died Wednesday when his car was hit at the intersection of state Route 28 and Road K Northwest in Winchester.

Tito Mendez, 59, died at Quincy Valley Medical Center, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.

Mendez was driving south on Road K Northwest at about 7 p.m. and failed to yield the right of way, the WSP memo said. He drove into the intersection and his car was hit by a pickup driven by Simon Mendoza, 45, of Ephrata. Mendoza was driving east on SR-28.

Mendoza was injured but not transported to a hospital, the WSP memo said.
