MOSES LAKE — The Lioness Club of Moses Lake donated proceeds from Spaceburger sales to two Moses Lake organizations.

Lioness member Deb Graser said fellow members gave $3,216 to the Boys & Girls Club of The Columbia Basin and $3,216 to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation. The money was raised during an event at the Boys & Girls Club.

“That was in one short day, because we ran out (of Spaceburgers),” Graser said.

Spaceburgers are a longtime Lioness fundraiser. They originated at the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle, and were made in a special machine. Eventually the Lioness Club bought the machine and Lioness Spaceburgers became a tradition at the Grant County Fair and a few other events.

“We sell a lot of Spaceburgers and give all the money back to the community,” Graser said.

The Lioness Clubs are a division of the Lions Club International.
