MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man is fighting for his life after a motorcycle accident in Richland on Sunday.
Jaime Garza was injured while performing a motorcycle jump in the P.R.O. Series at Horn Rapids Racing Motorsports Complex in Richland, according to his family. Following the accident, other riders proceeded to run over and land on Garza following the crash, causing vital injuries.
Garza sustained major internal chest wounds, rib fractures and lung lesions. His heart is grappling to work properly due to the severity of the crash, Brandon Kirkendall, organizer of the GoFundMe stated.
“(He) Has some bleeding on the brain. He has numerous other bone fractures all over his body and is currently in critical condition at Kadlec Hospital in Richland,” Kirkendall added. “Currently, he is fighting for his life. He and his family could use all the help they can get. He is facing an extremely long and expensive road to recovery as medical bills are adding up very quickly. He’s looking at months if not a year or more recovery when he pulls through for all of us.”
As of press time, the GoFundMe campaign has surpassed $8,000 of the $20,000 goal the family has set up. The campaign can be visited by clicking HERE.
“I’ve known Jaime for more than thirty years. He was the best man at my wedding. I spoke with his family and I know about medical costs and his treatment is extensive so I can only imagine how much the medical bills are going to be,” Kirkendall told the Columbia Basin Herald. “The family asked me to take charge and make the GoFundMe. Anything helps, even $5. He wasn’t the kind of guy to ask for anything. He is a nice guy. Right now, the doctors and nurses at Kadlec are trying to stabilize him.”
