MOSES LAKE — Residents will pay tribute to one of the pillars of the Grant County economy Dec. 6, when the 25th annual Ag Appreciation Parade rolls down Third Avenue.

It's sponsored by the Downtown Moses Lake Association. The parade is preceded by a street party; it starts at 5 p.m., with the parade at 7 p.m.

“It's an appreciation of our history and culture of Moses Lake,” said director Brandon Nicholas. “Agriculture and farmers have played a large part (in making) Moses Lake Moses Lake.”

The ag appreciation parade is an ag equipment parade, with tractors and trucks, combines, semis, fire trucks, machinery big and small. Tractors and other equipment are decked out in lights. Applicants are judged in five categories, agriculture and non-agriculture, non-profit, non-motor and equestrian.

The route takes participants from the Surf 'n Slide water park, along East Third Street to South Division Street, then down East Fourth Avenue back to the water park. Some businesses will be open along Third Street, and other businesses and community groups will have booths. “We'll have a fire pit for roasting marshmallows.”

The street party will feature caroling and hot chocolate, along with entertainment. Dale Roth will be the emcee for the party and the parade.

Parade lineup starts at 3:30 p.m., with judging from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and when the entrants reach the corner of Third and South Ash streets. Winners will be notified.
