MOSES LAKE — For the fourth year in a row, the Columbia Basin Allied Arts (CBAA) has a booth at the Grant County Fair. Fair attendees can participate in painting large murals of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Chief Moses. Together, the two murals make an 8-foot-by-8-foot panel.

“It is a partnership between the Columbia Basin Allied Arts and the fairgrounds,” Shawn Cardwell, CBAA executive director, said. “The fair has supported us this year with a tent, supplies and a place to store the supplies.”

The finished panels will be on display at the fairgrounds on Saturday. Mural artist Erika Nicole will paint a version of the finished panels on the water cistern across from the Purple Gate at the fairgrounds.

“It’s based on what the community has done,” Cardwell said. “We are excited. This is the only visual art that we do. Kids can free paint or paint pictures of local flora and fauna.”

Painting is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The final product will be on display Saturday.
