Congress should act on Mueller Report

Print Article

This what I have learned from reading the Mueller Report:

1. Mueller’s job was limited to investigating any links between Russia and the Trump campaign along with any other matters that came up during the investigation. He was not authorized to bring charges, if any, against the president.

2. Russia did interfere in the 2016 election.

3. The Trump campaign expected it would win the electoral vote with Russian help.

4. Trump tried to sabotage the investigation, but his staff stopped him.

5. Media reports for two years about Trump’s actions to interfere with the investigation were accurate, and White House officials knew this.

6. The evidence does not clear the president of criminal wrongdoing.

7. The report spells out for Congress all the facts it needs for an impeachment inquiry and/or impeachment, for only Congress has the authority to prohibit the president from the corrupt use of his office.

These are the two conclusions I draw from my findings:

A. Congress needs to stop Trump‘s abuse of presidential authority, and

B. Congress needs to support the Rule of Law.

I urge people to read the Mueller Report for themselves and then ask Congress to evaluate the report’s evidence and to reach a decision on both obstruction and the principle that no person is above the law.
