Employment outlook not as rosy as people say

Print Article

I hear people keep making false statements that African-Americans’ unemployment is good under Donald Trump. As an African-American myself, I am writing to expose this lie.

Between April and March, I’ve gone to six job interviews. Not one of the six hired me or called me back. I have a clean criminal record, a high school diploma, a driver’s license and work experience, so there’s really no excuse not to hire me. One man said, “James, they’re discriminating against you.” I said, “I try not to look at it that way, but something is wrong.”

I have lots of people calling me sorry and lazy, but I’ve been working since I was 14. There’s nothing lazy about me. All I can do is put the application in. I can’t make people hire me.
