Ephrata 3, Royal 1

ROYAL CITY — Ephrata scored twice in the first half and won its season opener at Royal 3-1.

Nikola Brzezny and Julia Davis scored in the first half for the Tigers. Anna Raine added an insurance goal in the second half off an assist from Lynette Sanchez.

“I figured we would have much more trouble than we did, but our young girls did alright and forced some mistakes out of Ephrata,” Royal head coach Jens Jensen said. “Couple touches go our way and we would have asked a few more dangerous questions.”

The Knights were able to break through and score in the 70th minute on a goal by Raylie Wardenaar; Royal’s Grecia Santillan assisted on the strike.

Warden 3, Quincy 2

QUINCY — Warden scored three unanswered goals to beat Quincy 3-2.

Emily Wurl scored the first of her two goals in the seventh minute to give the Jacks an early lead. Warden senior forward Aaliyah Escamilla evened the game in the 21st minute and Jocelyn Chagoya gave the Cougars the lead for good with a goal early in the second half. Escamilla scored her second goal soon after.

Wurl scored again late, however, the Quincy comeback bid fell short.
