Othello Red Raiders 12, Yakima Beetles 6

YAKIMA — The Red Raiders used a big fifth inning to pull away in the first game of the day against the Beetles.

Tied after the first, 1-1, Othello took a two-run lead after the second. Two more in the third stretched the lead to 5-1 before Yakima tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Seven runs in the top of the fifth stretched the lead out for the Red Raiders, proving too much for the Beetles to come back from. Four Red Raiders each finished 2-4 from the plate, as the team finished with 13 hits in the game, with six doubles as well.

The home squad finished with ten hits as a team, with both squads finishing with three errors in the field.

Beetles 3, Red Raiders 2

Tied headed into the seventh inning, Yakima scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to take game two of the evening.

1-1 after three innings, the Red Raiders scored in the top of the seventh to take a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the inning. A pair of runs from the Beetles secured the victory for home team.

Nathan Garza Jr. finished 1-4 for Othello, with a pair of RBI’s in the game. The Red Raiders knocked six hits in the second game, with one error in the field. Yakima finished with four hits in the win, with one error.

The Red Raiders move to 15-13 on the year, with another double header against the Beetles set for tomorrow in Othello.
