SOAP LAKE — Ephrata High School girls golf continued their run this season with a win in the CWAC 2A District championship at Lakeview Golf & Country Club.
The Tigers finished with a score of 388 as a team. Five of the six Ephrata players who qualified for district qualified for the first round of the state championship on May 20.
Junior Chloe Mickelson shot the lowest score for the Tigers on the day, with a 91. Junior Isabel Buchert finished close behind with a 95.
Head coach Heidi Burns said her entire team has been close together in score all season.
“They’ve all been neck and neck,” she said. “Every week would be different. Some would shoot high, some would shoot low.”
Other state qualifiers for the Tigers included: Payton Hagy (101), Abby Buchert (101) and Emmie Dilling (104). Freshman Hayden Allen (116) qualified for district but didn’t make the cut for state.
Burns said she will look on honing in her team’s mental preparedness in preparation of the upcoming tournament.
“If you have bad shots, you need to let it go,” Burns said. “Golf, and everything, anything can change.”
The 2A state championship will be held at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake.
