Moses Lake softball swept by undefeated Lake City

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Moses Lake was swept on the road by undefeated Lake City of Idaho 11-2 and 6-0.

The Chiefs drew within one run in the first game after scoring twice in the fourth inning, however, the Timberwolves rattled off eight unanswered runs to pull away.

Savannah Ashley led off the fourth inning with a single and Brooklyn Bailey doubled to put runners on second and third base. Laurissa Martinez followed with a two-run single.

Jalyssa Beamer, Emma Gray and Abby Jankay hit home runs for the Timberwolves. Beamer and Gray finished with three RBIs each.

Moses Lake starter Gina Skinner surrendered eight runs on nine hits with two strikeouts in five innings.

Moses Lake managed three hits in its Game 2 loss. Both teams were held scoreless for three innings before Lake City broke through with three runs in the fourth.

Beamer, Jankay and Olivia Zufelt went deep for Lake City in the nightcap. Ashley allowed six runs in six innings for the Chiefs.
