Suspect surrenders when faced with K9 Grizzly

MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man wanted on burglary and illegal possession of a firearm charges who allegedly resisted arrest was taken down by K9 Grizzly of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office after a Wednesday morning confrontation.

Deputies were investigating a theft in progress at 1307 West Craig Street in North Moses Lake, according to a press release, when they learned Tomas Quintanilla III, 31, was inside the home. Quintanilla was wanted for second-degree burglary and first-degree possession of a firearm, the press release stated.

Quintanilla refused to exit the house when commanded to by deputies, and K9 Grizzly was deployed by handler Deputy Dave De La Rosa. As Grizzly entered the home, Quintanilla ran down the hall and locked himself in a bedroom, according to the press release.

Under siege by the K9 officer, deputies again told Quintanilla to surrender himself before they let Grizzly into the bedroom. Quintanilla promptly surrendered without further conflict and was lodged in the Grant County Jail, according to the press release.
