VANTAGE — A semi traveling westbound on I-90 over the Vantage Bridge was driving too fast to negotiate the curve, causing it to roll over the Jersey barrier and come to rest across the eastbound lanes around 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the state patrol.
Although the semi has been removed from the scene, the eastbound lanes were still closed as of 2:45 p.m. Wednesday while crews cleaned a fuel leak from the truck. The westbound lanes were temporarily closed following the crash, but one lane has been reopened. The state patrol said it expected to have all lanes open by 4 p.m.
The driver of the semi, Matthew Day, 33, was injured in the rollover and transported to the Quincy Valley Medical Center. He is facing second-degree negligent driving charges for the incident.
