QUINCY - The person who was fatally struck by a semi-truck just outside of Quincy on Thursday has been identified as an 18-year-old Quincy resident.

The semi-truck reportedly struck the pedestrian, identified as 18-year-old Quincy resident Edward Garcia, about 4:15 p.m. on state Route 281, just outside of Quincy. Garcia was seriously injured in the collision and was initially transported to Quincy Valley Hospital for treatment.

Garcia was later airlifted to a Spokane area hospital, but he reportedly died mid-flight. The Quincy Police Department says their investigation indicates Garcia intentionally entered the roadway. The truck driver, whose identity has not been released, was not injured and has not been cited or charged in connection with the collision.
