SPOKANE — Big Bend dropped to third in the NWAC East after two losses to Spokane 4-3 and 3-0.

Spokane opened up a 4-0 lead after five innings in the first game. Big Bend (13-8, 16-18) attempted a rally with a three-run sixth inning, but could not push the game-tying run across.

Derek Almanza homered after Benjamin Albrecht singled and Christian Santillanes was hit by a pitch to drive in the Vikings’ three runs all at once. Trevor Luckey was 2-for-4 with a double.

Spokane scored three runs in the fifth inning of Game 2 to break the scoreless tie. The Vikings scattered three hits and could not take advantage of four Spokane errors.

Justin Lutz, Jase Edwards and Brenden Duncan all hit RBI doubles for Spokane.
