Woman killed after being struck by train in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) A woman was killed when she was struck by a freight train in Tacoma, Washington.

KOMO-TV reports it happened near 21st Street and Dock Street around 2 a.m. Friday. That's according to Gus Melonas with Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

Melonas says the train was heading from Portland to Seattle.

No other details about the victim or why she was near the train tracks have been given.

Train traffic was stopped along the tracks for a few hours but has since resumed.
