JOB ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION OPEN: Animal Shelter Manager CLOSING DATE: September 28, 2018 at 4:00 pm. CLASSIFICATION: This is a non-Union, Fair Labor Standards Act exempt position and reports to the Chief of Police or designee. SALARY RANGE: DOE ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to plan, organize research and otherwise successfully accomplish assigned projects. This position assists with community education regarding the importance of licensing; promotes responsible pet ownership and pet population; responsible for building and grounds maintenance, budget, adoption programs and supervision of employees, volunteers and community service workers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Strong interpersonal relations skills; Computer literacy and ability to properly operate a wide variety of office equipment; Ability to perform job tasks with minimum supervision, displaying initiative and sound judgment; High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and, one or more years of office management experience; and, one or more years of supervisory or managerial experience; and one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, or training and related experience that is acceptable to the Quincy Police Department. No felony criminal convictions (any exceptions to be reviewed and approved by Chief of Police, City Administrator, and Mayor). Able to obtain the Legend Drug/Euthanasia Certification. Possess valid driver's license upon hire date. Authorize and pass full law enforcement type background check. Minimum of 21 years of age. This position shall be filled by appointment of the Mayor and will involve a six month probationary period, during which time the employee may be dismissed for any reason at the sole discretion of the City of Quincy.
