Petra “Chelo” G. Reyes, 76, longtime Warden resident passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 at Spokane Valley Hospital, her family at her side. Viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Warden. Holy Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden.

Petra was born on Sept. 20, 1942 in Encino, Texas to Yndalecio and Petra Garza. Raised and educated in Edinburg, Texas, she married Roberto Reyes in 1968. They made their home in Warden, Wash. where they raised their three children. Petra worked as a laborer for many years at Washington Potato, retiring in 2010. In her earlier years, Petra could be found driving 10-wheelers. She also enjoyed gardening, going to the casino and especially spending time with her treasured family.

Petra was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Warden and many years ago had been active in Cursillo at the church along with Roberto.

She is survived by her daughters Yolanda Reyes and Norma (Celestino) Contreras; sisters Senaida Salazar, Lisandra Valdez, Esperanza Caballero, Juanita Rodriguez and Guadalupe Garza; brothers Tomas Garza and Noe Garza; brother-in-law Angel Reyes; eight grandchildren Mikayla Reyes, Gilbert (Jennifer) Reyes, Noah Reyes, Andrea Contreras, Amanda Contreras, Anthony Contreras, Raul (Evelyn) Farias, Jr. and Elvira Farias and great-grandchildren Camryn Reyes and Skylar Farias. She was preceded in death her parents Yndalecio and Petra Garza, husband Roberto Reyes, son Gilbert Reyes, brother Robert Garza and sister Maria E. Campos.
